When we heard the news that NBC is partnering with Esquire Magazine to launch a new cable network targeting men, we were excited to hear the news. While some may see this as an outdated form of marketing, to us it makes perfect sense.
It’s pretty safe to say that there are a lot of television shows and channel that cater to their female audience because they know that women will be the ones that will be watching those shows. But what about the guys? With the ever growing number of popular shows such as “Downton Abbey”, “New Girl”, “The Real Housewives” and “What Not to Wear”(just to name a few) the guys must either turn to ESPN or watch these shows and hope that they find them entertaining.
This isn’t the first time that a network has been created to meet the needs of a certain population. In a world where news had a slight left leaning frame of mind, FOX News made sure that they showed a more conservative side of the news and look how well it’s doing now. Men are now embracing their many roles outside the workplace as Dad, Husband, Friend, etc. The proliferation of the daddy blogger shows that men too wish to show their feelings and ideas about their lives into world. So it seems that this might just be the best ideas that television networks have had in a long time.
