With awards season officially in full swing, this weekend Youtube would not be outdone! In an effort to stand out as much as possible, their music video awards were one of the most out of the box experiences. The idea that major stars got to interact with Youtube stars is a great concept in our minds, and it allows for a different dynamic, and this awards show definitely delivered.
You could tell that the show wasn’t really so rehearsed by the simple fact that winners had no idea where to come up to receive their awards. Cakes were demolished in order to find out who the winner of Response of the Year was, Lady Gaga did a surprisingly stripped down version of Dope and weeped throughout the performance, Girls Generation won big and in the end, Jason Schwartzman took it all in stride.
You could tell that the performers and participants were having fun because they were doing things that you just usually can’t do in a large and traditional awards show. We can’t wait to see what Youtube does for next year.
